Very useful and well implemented extension.

Suggestion: Maybe more options for setting the "alt" key, I would really like having right mouse button as modifier.

Hi, Johan

Thanks for your suggestion.
Using right (or left) mouse button as modifier (wheel lock?) is a good idea.
I'm planning to add such feature and simple tab-switching feature to Xscroll.

The next release may be this weekend.

awesome. i've been meaning to file a bug for this. horizontal wheel scrolling while over the horizontal scroll bar is a logical feature that i'd like to see added to firefox.

noticed one thing tho: it doesn't use smooth scrolling - even if the pref is set.

i also couldn't figure out the mod key function, but i'm not too worried, as long as i can use the horiz. scroll bar.

0.0.4 on firefox 0.8 on windows 2000

miahz, thanks for your bug report.

This extension should support Smooth Scroll.
I'll try to implement that feature.

But I have no time to play with neither Mozilla nor XUL since the last week of March,
and that state will continue for a few weeks :(

Sounds like a very useful extension but I can't get it to work, presumably because another plugin has changed the behaviour of SHIFT+Mousewheel to Go Back/Forward. I tried changing this in about:config (mousewheel.withshiftkey.action) to an out-of range integer such as 4 or -1, but Xscroll still won't work (though extensions.xscroll.modkey=2).

gracefool,
try mousewheel.withshiftkey.action = 0 or 1.
out of range integer does nothing because the mouse-scroll event is the trigger for this extension.
(hmm, this should be documented)

if above setting will not help,
let me know what extension and OS are you using.

Doesn't seem to work on Mac OS X. Can anyone confirm?

It would be great if there's an integration of 3 types of scrolling:

- tab scrolling (by tabscroller)
[NB: Provide options for the key which activates the scrolling is preferred (eg ALT, CTRL, right-click, left-click].

- middle-click auto scrolling (by autoscroll)
[NB: It is a function that IE has. Do you remember what the mouse cursor changes when we middle-click when browsing.
Currently autoscroll only supports auto vertical scrolling. It would be great to see auto horizontal scrolling as well.]

- horizontal scroll (by Xscroll)

Thanks for the great extension. I can not seem to get the tab scroller feature to work well... the tabs always scroll to every other tab... so you are skipping the second tab in a 3 tab sequence... sometimes reverse direction will change the patter so you hit the second tab and it seems to be speed dependent... i tried adjusting the delta value in case that would affect things without effect... anyway, a simple tab scroller such as this would be great (the other tab scroller extension uses the RMB which i use for X-Scroll)

Oops, I meant that I use the Left Mouse Button for X-Scroll and the Right Mouse Button for Image Zoom
